Below is a complete list of frequently available poision-dart frogs. Please note which are listed as AVAILABLE NOW  when considering placing an order. I am also working with an extensive collection of thumbnail species which are available in smaller quantities. I will post these, as well, at the time of availability.  For all frogs, please feel free to e-mail me or call me on occasion for updates regarding their availability. Also, remember to check out the frog availability section below frequently.

All frogs for sale are captive born from exceptional stock.  Frogs metamorphose as froglets and are considered such for usually 8 weeks (see froglet Pallid tinctorius).  From 2 months until 6 months of age, most frogs are considered juveniles.  It is at this size and age that most of the below frogs are offered for sale (see juvenile Highland Bronze auratus).  Occassional we offer sub-adults (see sub-adult Red galactonotus) and adults (see adult Patricia tinctorius).

Since most frogs are sold as unsexed juveniles, the table below predicts your chance of having a ultimately having a sexed pair as it correlates with the number of frogs purchased.

We are also now offering 32 ounce fruit fly cultures for sale with each frog purchase.  We have Drosophila melanogaster and hydei available for $8 per culture with your frog purchase or $10 each sold on their own.

WANTED: WE WILL PURCHASE OR TRADE FOR THE FOLLOWING:  male banded leucomelas, male Surinam cobalt tinctorius, male citronella tinctorius, male Brazilian cobalt tinct, female yellow terribilis, yellow Sipaliwini tinctorius, orange terribilis, female mint terribilis, female Patricia tinctorius, female pallid tinctorius, male Lorenzo tinctorius, moonshine galactontus, Regina tinctorius, Giant Orange tinctorius, striped reticulatus, red granuliferous, red vicente and rare thumbnail species.

SURINAM

The Blue Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates azureus
Sipaliwini Savannah
Surinam

First discovered in 1968, this frog resides in the southernmost part of Surinam near the Brazilian border. It is not the only dart frog in the Sipaliwini Savannah but the one that is most well known. These frogs are isolated to "forest islands" on the western slopes of the Four Brother Mountains. First bred in captivity in the late 1980's, this species has become widely available in the private trade. I am offering offspring from four bloodlines. Inquire about the sky blue bloodline (future availablility, Eggs and Tadpoles from Sky Blues now).

The Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates tinctorius
Alanis morph
Surinam

One of the newer morphs of tinctorius, introduced in the hobby in 1999. Due to the massive numbers of imported animals, this tinctorius is under appreciated. This is one of the most spectacular morphs of tinctorius kept in the hobby. It is large, bold and brightly colored. My offspring metamorphose with orange and yellow markings on their backs and blue reticulated patterns in the hind limbs. F1 generation available from Infer-Alanis stock.

The Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates tinctorius
Patricia morph
Surinam

This is a relatively new morph of tinctorius, in the hobby since 1999, that has been very popular among hobbyists for the past years...and for good reason. My bloodlines produce large F1 generation frogs with bright yellow markings and a beautiful shade of light blue on all four limbs. A great display type animal that is easy to keep and breed.  Imported from Surinam and was first introduced in the by Vanishing Jewels. Named after the owner Patricia Grueneberg.

The Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates tinctorius
Yellow Sipaliwini River morph
Surinam

Running North to South, the Corentyne River feeds the Sipaliwini River which courses through the Sipaliwini valleys of Southern Surinam into Northern Brazil. Along the Sipaliwini River many morphs of tinctorius have been collected..."blue sips", "green sips" and yes a few yellow ones. Those that have bred the "green sips" know many of the juveniles metamorphose as a yellow juvenile only later to turn lime-green. These beautiful Yellow Sipaliwini River tinctorius are a distinct morph and are lemon yellow from froglet to adult.

FRENCH GUIANA

The Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates tinctorius
Giant Orange morph
French Guiana

Found in eastern French Guiana between the towns of Regina and Saul. I am working with two bloodlines originally established in the mid 1990's from animals acquired from Germany and here in the States. They are large and have large amounts of yellow coloration with blue reticulations under the chin, in their cloaca area but not on the hind legs. Some specimens have an orange crest, hence their name.  This is a different population than the "Regina" tinctorius I offer. The Giant Orange tinctorius tend to have more yellow coloration, especially on their sides and back. In addition, they have a similar distribution of blue color under the chin and in the cloacal area, but have a lighter shade of blue and more fine blue webbing pattern instead of the larger blue reticulations seen in the Regina morph.  Be aware in Europe many breeders call Regina and Giant Orange one frog.  Here in the USA, there has been confusion over discriminating the two.  Many breeders call their Giant Orange tinctorius-Regina...and vis versa. Compare the two.

The Dyeing Poison Dart Frog
Dendrobates tinctorius
Regina morph
French Guiana

This is by far my favorite tinctorius morph. Found in eastern French Guiana, east of the town named Regina. I am working with two bloodlines originally established in the early 1990's from animals acquired from Holland. They initially were called "Giant Orange" but do not get as large as true "Giant Orange."  For years in the USA, these specimens were called "Giant Oranges" and probably inter-bred.  They are nonetheless a large tinctorius with an orange crest in some specimens.  They have variable amounts of yellow coloration with blue reticulations under the chin, in their cloaca area and on the hind legs. This is a different population than the Giant Orange tinctorius I offer, differing by the blue color, pattern and distribution (blue leg markings on the Regina morph).  These Regina tinctorius have a darker blue markings under the chin and in the cloacal area.  The blue markings are a larger reticulated pattern than seen in the Giant Oranges.  Be aware in Europe many breeders call Regina and Giant Orange one frog.  Here in the USA, there has been confusion over discriminating the two.  Many breeders call their Regina tinctorius-Giant Orange...and vis versa.  Compare the two.

The Poison Dart Frog

French Guyana

Dendrobates ventrimaculatus have a large distribution in South America.  They range from French Guyana to Peru.  Colors vary in select populations.  Some have yellow stripes and some have more red or orange.  Some have grey legs and some blue.  The French Guyana morph we are working with is a yellow striped and blue legged frog.  They tend to be on the smaller side when compared to the grey leg ventrimaculatus.  These are great beginner thumnails that tend to be easy to breed.

Splashed Back Dart Frog
Dendrobates galactonotus
Red morph
Brazil

The larger Dendrobates species are found in variety of colors, but not many are red. That is definitely what makes the red morph of galactonotus unique. The bloodlines I am working with are cherry red, bold and love to climb. This may be the most threatened morph of galactonotus in its natural environment.

Splashed Back Dart Frog
Dendrobates galactonotus
Orange morph
Brazil

This is one of the many color morphs of Dendrobates galactonotus. This species is from the marsh lands of Brazil. This species tends to climb more than many of the other terrestrial Dendrobatids, thus I refer to it as semi-arboreal. This locality of orange galactonotus tends to be larger than the "wedge" form and more vividly colored. Most individuals have bright orange on all four limbs making them 80% orange or greater!

Splashed Back Dart Frog
Dendrobates galactonotus
Koi morph
Brazil

I do not know where this galactonotus morph resides...in Goias, Maranhao or Para. This group of animals were brough back from Holland in 2001. They were purchased as juveniles and were powder white with black and white hind limbs. As they matured, some individuals faded to only retain white spots, some developed orange spots and some still developed yellow lines! When you invision a splashed back dart frog, you invision the "koi" galact.

The offspring I have to offer metamorphose as a light orange and black froglet but what will they look like as adults?

COLOMBIA

The Golden Poison Frog
Phyllobates terribilis
Mint morph
Colombia

Found in lowland rainforest in pacific coastal Colombia. The scientific discovery of 1978 both to herpetology and toxicology. Wild specimens harbor the toxins that make them the most toxic species of frog in the world, twenty fold more toxic than other dart-frog species. The metallic silver-green morph is found in the locality of La Brea. These are big, bold and beautiful frogs. Adults range in color from white to metallic green.

Price: $50 each                                      Eggs now

The Golden Poison Frog
Phyllobates terribilis
Orange morph
Colombia

The belief that all the brightly colored Dendrobatid frogs are used for poisoning “arrows” is a modern literary myth. In fact, of the 170 known species of Dendrobatids, only three extraordinarily toxic species of Phyllobates from rain forest on the Pacific drainage of western Colombia are known to be used for poisoning blowgun darts (not arrows). The terribilis are one of those three species, however raised in captivity they are harmless! This orange morph is outstanding. Like all species of terribilis, this is a big, bold and vocal frog.

The Golden Poison Frog
Phyllobates ssp
Gold morph
Colombia

A few kilometers away from La Brea, along the Quebrada Guangui, is a locality of terribilis that is yellow. Some of these animals are reported to have a light shade of green or torquoise in their hind legs. In addition, their thighs of the hind legs were less granulated. These golden terribilis were purchased in Holland as terribilis. They have produced all uniform colored offspring. Whether they are a new form of bicolor or true terribilis does not take away from their beauty.

Colombia

The Phyllobates terribilis are collected from the upper Rio Saija drainage in the vicinity of Quebrada Guangui' and at La Brea. The morphology and toxicity of these frogs are uniform except for a microgeographic color variation which ranges from golden-yellow to deep orange to a metallic silver-green. This is the more yellow form.

The Black-legged Poison Dart Frog
Phyllobates bicolor
Colombia

This is one of the three, true poison-dart frogs. The bicolor species is a sister species to the terribilis, separated by about 180 miles in Colombia. Found mostly around Santa Cecilia and the Rio Sipi and where the upper drainages of the San Juan meet the Rios Atrato. This is a variable morph ranging in color from solid yellow or gold to gold with black legs, gold with emerald green legs, gold with light green legs and orange with variable colored legs. I am able to offer multiple bloodlines including yellow bicolor and F1 orange bicolor.
